The same approach treats surgical and traumatic scars, and softens the texture and color of older stretch marks. Skin resurfacing care guide
Pre treatment for all skin resurfacing
- Drink plenty of water in the 48 hours prior to treatment
- Wear loose fitting clothes if treating the body, and scoop neck tanks if treating decolletage
- Stop retinols or products that may dehydrate the skin (2-7 days prior to treatment)
- Discontinue use of all exfoliating products 1 week prior to treatment
- Avoid sun exposure (2+ weeks) and use a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays with a SPF of 30+
- Stop Accutane® 6 months prior (or as directed by your provider).
- Avoid aspirin or NSAIDs for 5 days prior (or as directed by your provider).
- Start antiviral prophylactic treatment for those with a history of viral infection / cold sores
- For patients that are prone to hyperpigmentation, consider pre-treating with a melanin suppressing agent 2x daily for 2 weeks (or an appropriate length of time) before the treatment
CoolPeel/DEKA treatment spacing
- Botox: Wait 2 weeks before.
- Filler: Wait 4 weeks before.
- Aggressive Chemical Peels: Wait 4 weeks before.
- Post-Laser: Wait until skin is fully healed and intact before any other treatments.
